Prairie Dogs Being Blown Up at Gallup Cemetery

Associated Press
GALLUP — Crews have been using a device to blow up the burrows of prairie dogs that are overrunning a Gallup cemetery.
Gallup's director of golf operations, Bob Weekes, says the Rodenator pumps propane and oxygen into the burrows, and the mixture is detonated.
He says it's quick and lethal and is supposed to be humane.
But the president of Albuquerque-based Prairie Dog Pals, Yvonne Boudreaux, says the contraption is barbaric.
She says some prairie dogs are burned and die slowly.
The city is open to other means of removing the animals, and Prairie Dog Pals is willing to talk with city officials.
