      Gabriel Montoya, a 22-year-old aspiring boxer, shot his father in the face from 50 yards away south of Santa Fe on Tuesday afternoon after an argument over the younger man not having a job, according the sheriff's office.

    Husband's Death Ruled Suicide

      The Office of the Medical Investigator has confirmed that the June death of the husband of a local beauty pageant winner was a suicide, Rio Rancho police said Wednesday. The OMI determined William Edward Vasquez Jr., of Rio Rancho, 28, died after drinking an excessive amount of antifreeze, Rio Rancho police spokesman John Francis said. Vasquez's wife, Jena Marquez de Vasquez, was the reigning Mrs. Sandoval County at the time.


    48 Hours in Jail; 20 Cars Booted

      When prominent Albuquerque developer Jason Daskalos gets out of jail Friday, he may want to invest in a bicycle. That's what Metropolitan Court Judge Sandra Clinton suggested Wednesday as she sentenced Daskalos to 48 hours in jail for violating his probation in a domestic violence case.
